Our Diversity and Inclusion Statement
At its core, Fifty aims to understand humans better – but this mission doesn’t stop with our technology, it feeds into our internal ethos too. Our belief in the power of human connection has helped us build a workplace where everyone can thrive and succeed; regardless of race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, physical ability, socio-economics, age, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation or gender identity. We know that the best work happens when we bring diverse and innovative minds together to work towards a common goal.
Our 2022 Strategy
Whilst we are a small scale-up still in the initial stages of implementing our D&I strategy, we understand that this doesn’t start and end with recruitment. We recognise the importance of bringing in other voices and ideas from across the business in order to create a culture of transparency from the offset.
This starts with our Diversity and Inclusion Committee who is dedicated to advocating for change, driving knowledge forward and crucially, ensuring the commitments set out by our leadership and People Team lead to actionable results.
Our 2022 commitments:
- Continue to run unconscious bias training for anyone involved in the interview process
- Continue the roll out of Diversity and Inclusion training for leadership team and managers
- Continue the development of internal staff networks for underrepresented employees
- Continue hosting quarterly events and workshops to recognise and amplify underrepresented communities throughout the year
- Increase our number of partnerships with Universities and companies that work to address the lack of diversity within technology and advertising sectors
- Activate internal programmes for learning, training and development, which includes Diversity and Inclusion modules
- Design a work experience pathway with the Social Mobility Foundation. We already have a dedicated mentor at Fifty, and this is an opportunity we hope to roll out to more employees throughout the year.
What we achieved in 2021:
- Set up our Diversity and Inclusion committee and built an internal resource library to share knowledge and best practices
- Created internal staff networks and dedicated Slack channels, such as our LGBTQ+ channel
- Implemented anonymous screening of applications, which also included anonymising candidates referred by external recruitment agencies
- We partnered with The Black Tech Sales Network on our inaugural Commercial Internship Programme and we are looking forward to welcoming our first BTSN intern in February 2022
- We ran events with Black Girls in Tech and Latinas in Tech
- Set up partnerships with charities such as AKT so they can use our product pro bono.
As a small scale-up, we are proud of our D&I achievements so far and we are committed to fostering an environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. We will continue to be open about our efforts and D&I journey as we grow and we hope to show that no matter how small your business or department, it is possible to champion a culture of inclusivity.
